DU Neighborhood Highlights

This neighborhood around the University of Denver is a mix of brick bungalows, frame-and-siding homes, contemporary townhomes and duplexes, apartment buildings and recently updated condos. Many of the older homes are rented out to students, as land-holders wait for further land appreciation. Along University you’ll find a handful of recent successful condo projects and of course retail shops and restaurants that cater to the University of Denver faculty and students.

Bisecting the school is Evans Avenue, which provides more retail and restaurants. The light rail skirts along the highway and you’ll find easy access to downtown or the Denver Tech Center from the station near the intersection at University and Buchtel. Crossing over the highway leads you to the Washington Park neighborhood. The University offers Denver’s best fitness center, the Ritchie Center, as well as continuing education courses, great concerts, and performances at the Newman Center.
